After our first exhibition, failure of (a)symmetry (September 2023), held in an Art Deco house, we continue our dialogue on form, rhythm, and play.
The first project explored how creativity could emerge through the act of failing symmetry — or asymmetry — and how imperfection itself can open space for imagination.

This second exhibition grows from that same spirit, now seen through the lens of play — inspired by Les Jeux et les hommes by Roger Caillois and Homo Ludens by Johan Huizinga. We share a fascination for these writings, yet during the making process, we tried to gently let go of their theories and hold on instead to their passion — to the joy of play itself.

Colette Van Gompel presents The Game, a new series of paintings that continues her exploration of gesture, movement, and playful tension on the surface.
Kosi Hidama presents ceramic works in conversation with flowers, branches, and sound — expanding his ongoing research into the relationship between material and vibration. His sound installations evolve from his first experiment shown in failure of (a)symmetry, where he transformed a ceramic vase and a small Bluetooth speaker into an instrument inspired by the Japanese Suikinkutsu (水琴窟) — a traditional garden sound device. This exhibition presents the latest development of that idea.

Together, these works invite the viewer into a shared field of attention — where painting, clay, sound, and space play with one another, and where play itself becomes a quiet form of thought.
